The Young Lawyers Section of the Monroe County Bar hosted a trivia contest March 5 at the Scotland Yard Pub on St. Paul St. Participants representing the Greater Rochester Association for Women Attorneys and the Rochester Black Bar Association joined YLS colleagues for an evening of friendly competition through multiple rounds of trivia questions.
The Daily Record sponsored the event, which included wood-fired pizza and chicken wings, along with trivia host Ryan Scofield, who runs trivia night at Scotland Yard every Wednesday. Several bonus questions related to facts about The Daily Record, such as reminding all that the newspaper was started in March 1908.
Attendees were randomly assigned to teams of four, and a few additional MCBA members were on hand to support the teams. Ultimately, Team 5, (Team Number Fine) came from behind to take first place, Team 4 (Four the Record) took second place, and Team 1 came in third.
Each member of the winning team — Laura Smith, Aaron Frazier, Iskra Miralem and Barb Orenstein — each received $20 gift cards to Scotland Pub. Second place winners received $15 gift cards, and third place team members got $10 gift cards.
Two of the pub owners, Terry Owen and Nancy Geraci, were on hand to make sure all went smoothly. The bar was closed to the public for a couple hours during the event.
