A group tasked with reviewing and perhaps recommending changes to the Monroe County charter is taking shape.
Gates Town Attorney John DiCaro was appointed chairman of the Charter Review Commission at its inaugural meeting June 4. Jeff Adair, R-Wheatland, president of the Monroe County Legislature, was appointed vice chairman.
The commission is next expected to meet in August. Individual members of the commission have areas of the charter to review and make recommendations at that time.
The public also will be asked for input after the August meeting. An overall report with recommendations is expected to be presented to the County Legislature in six months.
The charter outlines the role and powers of the county government and its administration.
