CHEEKTOWAGA — Authorities say they’re looking for two men who robbed a suburban Buffalo Catholic church during a funeral.
Police in Cheektowaga tell local media outlets that two men wearing hazardous materials-type suits and dust masks forced their way into the rectory at St. Aloysius Gonzaga Church on Monday morning.
Officials say one man was armed with a knife and the other had a gun. Police say the men demanded money from two church employees, who handed over money from a safe and their own purses. The women weren’t injured.
Police say the men were spotted leaving the scene in a newer model silver Cadillac.
Officials with the Catholic Diocese of Buffalo say a funeral was being held inside the church when the robbery occurred.
