State police in Western New York are inviting Erie County Fair goers to bring state police memorabilia to their display are at the fair in Hamburg which runs through Sunday.
The pieces of history will be scanned into a computer file. Also, as the 100th anniversary of the New York State Police approaches, troopers would like retired members and their family and friends to stop in and tell tales of their days “on the job.” Those stories may be used as part of anniversary celebrations at a later date.
Troopers assigned to the state police display at the Erie County Fair will participate in canine and repelling demonstrations for fairgoers.
While recruiters will be on hand to bolster the future of the New York State Police, other members hope to connect with something else — their past.
With an eye on revisions to the museum at the State Police Academy in Albany, troopers are inviting people to bring state police memorabilia to the display area.
