Manhattan Square Park in Rochester could be getting a new name.
Mayor Thomas S. Richards announced he’s started the process to rename the park, “Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Square Park.”
Richards was joined Wednesday by City Council President Lovely A. Warren, community activist and civil rights advocate Dr. Walter Cooper, the Rev. Fannie Reeves and the Mount Olivet Baptist Church choir and area youths to mark the 50th anniversary of the historic 1963 civil rights March on Washington and King’s “I Have a Dream” speech.
