Patrick J. Kennedy, former Rhode Island congressman and son of the late U.S. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, will speak at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 25 at East House’s 2013 Celebration of Hope & Recovery luncheon at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center.
The event highlights the efforts of those with mental illness and/or chemical dependency issues to live satisfying and productive lives.
East House will also recognize Gary and Marcia Stern with the 2013 Moving Lives Forward Award, which honors individuals who make an extraordinary commitment to supporting people in recovery.
An advocate for healthcare reform, Kennedy has spent his political career authoring and co-sponsoring dozens of bills to increase the understanding and treatment of neurological and psychological disorders. He follows in the footsteps of his family legacy; this year marks the 50th anniversary of the first major legislation to combat mental illness and promote mental wellness, which was signed by his uncle, President John F. Kennedy.
Tickets are $55 each and VIP tickets, with an opportunity to meet Kennedy at a private reception, are $120. For more information about tickets or sponsorships, please visit www.easthouse.org.
