Telco employee admits to false ledgers

Donna Harabin, 61, of Clearwater, Fla., has pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge David G. Larimer to making false credit institution entries.

The charge carries a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison, a $1 million fine or both.

Harabin, according to Assistant U.S. Attorney Tiffany H. Lee, was president and manager of Telco Federal Credit Union in Elmira, Chemung County, between January and December 2008 when she changed delinquency dates and falsified payment entries on various loan accounts to make them appear more current, when she knew that they were delinquent and in default. Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 11.
