Rochester City School Superintendent Bolgen Vargas said transportation is not the issue that resulted in a melee near the Sibley building downtown and a reported shot fired shortly before 4 p.m. Sept. 23.
But, the school district, City Hall, police department and Regional Transit Service are working to address safety concerns, including possible transportation changes.
Students congregate near the Liberty Pole on a regular basis around the time the incident was reported.
“However, transportation is not the issue here. It is the poor behavior of a small fraction of our students,” Vargas said in a statement. “We will work with our families and the community to address student behavior issues wherever and whenever they occur.”
