Monroe County and the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency will host a special pharmaceutical waste collection day, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 26, at various sites and times throughout the county.
Residents can drop off their unwanted, unused or expired prescription and over-the-counter medications for proper and secure destruction. All medications are destroyed by an incineration process overseen by law enforcement.
No appointments are necessary to participate in “National Take Back Day.” Waste from pharmacies, veterinary offices and pharmaceutical businesses will not be accepted at these drop-offs.
Residents can access a full schedule by calling (585) 753-7600 (option 3) or by viewing the county’s online household hazardous waste appointment scheduler at www.monroecounty.gov/hhw.
