Empire State Development’s Board of Directors last week approved funding for projects in Ontario and Wayne counties.
Seneca BioEnergy LLC, which is engaged in biodiesel and grape seed oil production, manure-based environmental control materials, agricultural processing, biomass combustion and environmental waste management, was awarded $100,000 for the purchase of equipment and rehabilitation of its 55-acre energy park. The Geneva company will retain six existing jobs and create four new jobs once the renewable energy facility is fully operational later this year.
Town of Ontario-based OptiPro Systems LLC, which builds machines for the precision optics industry, was awarded $50,000 for new machinery. The company committed to adding five new positions to its base of 45 jobs, and has already exceeded that goal.
