A forum for the public to meet candidates running for the Rochester City School District board of education will be conducted from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Downtown Presbyterian Church, 121 N. Fitzhugh St.
The event will begin with an explanation of the roles and duties of city school board members. Then candidates will respond to community and audience questions and concerns.
The forum is sponsored by the Greater Rochester Parent Leadership Training Institute, in partnership with The League of Women Voters.
“The city of Rochester’s bleak graduation rates and lowest in the state test scores make this election for school board the most important in years,” says a release from the The League of Women Voters. “What does a school board do and what is the board’s responsibility? Who are the candidates? What solutions do they propose?”
