The Lodge Bar and Grill, the newest restaurant to open in the Chippewa corridor of downtown Buffalo, kicked-off its grand opening last Wednesday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the newly remodeled, ski-lodge themed site at 79 W. Chippewa St.
A reception followed in the upstairs in the “Arctic Lounge,” a wintery-white space adorned with photos of local ski resorts, where guests sampled menu items.
“A year ago, my business partners and I envisioned creating a dining and nightlife destination that would elevate the offerings of the Chippewa Street Entertainment District,” said The Lodge co-owner Peter Altholz.
The Lodge’s space was occupied by nightlife-exclusive party bars, most notably McMonkeez and Bayou. The transition involved a $1.2 million renovation with interior designed by Williamsville native Rohit Kapoor. The Lodge’s artwork was commissioned by local artists, including the American Flag canvases that hang in the entrance painted by Tonawanda native Crystal Dickey. Her sister, Heather March, acts as the in-house pastry chef, who also put together The Lodge’s decorations for the holiday season.
