SWBR completes first phase of U of R center

SWBR Architects recently completed the first phase of construction and renovation of the University of Rochester’s Center for Experiential Learning, located in the university’s School of Medicine and Dentistry, according to a release from the company. SWBR served as lead architect on the project.

The $1.22 million project includes 12,000 gross square feet of renovation and is an educational delivery system that supports and connects learning throughout the U of R and the University of Rochester Medical Center campuses.

The CEL provides enhanced educational services, such as curriculum design, assessment, educational research and faculty development. It also includes four new state-of-the-art classrooms with the flexibility to open into two large classrooms, and two adjacent workrooms, according to the release.

“We are honored to be part of University of Rochester’s Center for Experiential Learning team,” said Jen LaChance, project manager of SWBR Architects. “The center is complete with hands-on learning opportunities, the use of high-quality technology and a space for collaborative learning.”

Classes began in the center on Nov. 1.
