Legislator appointed in Perinton

Dorothy Styk of Perinton has been chosen to represent the 18th Legislative District in the Monroe County Legislature, and not county Parks Director Larry Staub, as first announced.

The appointment took effect Thursday. Staub will continue to serve in his county job instead.

Styk worked in corporate and public accounting as an electronic data processing corporate auditor. Styk was also a part-time tax preparer, working predominately for the accounting services firm of Greenbaum, Saiger and Kasdin in Pittsford. She is currently a library secretary at Brighton High School. She and her husband, George, have two sons, Alexander and Stefan.

Styk, who will have to run for election this year to serve a full term, replaces Ciaran Hanna, who was elected to the Perinton Town Board last November.
