KNOX — An upstate New York man has been arrested after he set fire to his home and threatened to harm responding authorities, police said.
Investigators said 49-year-old Kenneth Fortuin set fire to the home in Knox outside Albany on Wednesday and cut down trees to block the road. Police say he threatened to harm any firefighters who approached the house.
State police found Fortuin in a vehicle in a field near the home early Thursday and took him into custody without incident. He was charged with arson and obstructing firefighting operations.
Officials said at least one structure on the property was substantially damaged.
