The Monroe County Republican Committee has endorsed Gates Supervisor Mark Assini in his campaign for U.S. House of Representatives.
Assini, a Republican, is running in the November general election against Rep. Louise Slaughter, R-Fairport, in the 25th Congressional District race.
Assini, who served 10 years as a county legislator, was elected supervisor in 2009. Slaughter, who defeated County Executive Maggie Brooks for the seat two years ago, was first elected to Congress in 1986.
