Retired TV news anchor announces candidacy

Former television news anchor Rich Funke plans to challenge incumbent state Sen. Ted O-Brien, D-Irondequoit, in the race to represent the 55th District.

Funke retired from WHEC-TV 10 in Rochester in Decem ber 2012 after a long career in news and sports.

Funke also cited his longtime community involvement, including his work with Golisano Children’s Hospital, Camp Good Days and Special Times, the Ronald McDonald House, Cancer Action and the Special Olympics.
