Supreme Court Justice Rose H. Sconiers will chair a CLE on “Everything You Need to Know About Becoming a Judge,” on May 1 at the Bar Association of Erie County, 438 Main St., Buffalo.
Justice Sconiers, who sits on the Appellate Division, Fourth Department bench, is also chair of the Franklin H. Williams Judicial Commission, which she will briefly talk about.
Panel discussions will include “Election Law Overview & Related Ethical Requirements,” “Q&A Regarding Evaluation Process,” “Securing the Nomination in Supreme Court,” “Making the Ballot in City, County and Family Courts” and “Appointment Process of NYS Court of Claims and for Federal Magistrate Judges and District Court Judges.”
Panels will consist of lawyers, judges, elections officials and representatives from a number of bar associations. The event is being sponsored by the Franklin H. Williams Judicial Commission, the Erie Institute of Law Continuing Legal Education, Minority Bar Association of Western New York and the Western New York Chapter of the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York.
The program will begin with lunch at 12:30 p.m., followed by welcoming remarks of BAEC President Michael J. Ryan. The program will conclude at 5 p.m. and be followed by a social hour.
