Matt Chandler was named to the board of directors of Literacy New York Buffalo-Niagara Inc. He is the author of 10 children’s books and is the marketing director at the Buffalo law firm of Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman LLP.
Barbara Purificato has been hired as the Rochester-area Eastern U.S. sales manager for SoPark Corporation, a WNY electronics manufacturing service provider. Purificato has 32 years of electronics experience in the area of printed circuit board assemblies, new product introductions, etc.
Nicole Gaulin has joined The DiMarco Group, a full-service development company, as marketing assistant. Gaulin provides support on marketing initiatives for each of the DiMarco Group companies; specifically, assisting in website improvements and social media updates, creative design for advertisements and other print materials, as well as supporting the development of trade-shows, and ordering promotional products.
SWBR Architects’ principal and architect, Jay Judson, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, will retire May 31 after 28 years of work for the firm. Judson has been involved in a wide variety of highly technical project types and has excelled as a designer while at the firm. He has specialized in work for the firm’s college and university clients, serving as the client liaison and project leader. Of Judson’s 28 years at SWBR, he has been involved in the firm’s board of directors for more than 25 years. He served as treasurer of SWBR from 1993 to 2010 and president from 1984 to 1992.
Maureen R. Wolfe, senior vice president/director, Human Resources & Community Relations, ESL Federal Credit Union, was named was named the HR Executive of the Year by the Rochester Affiliate of the National Human Resources Association — a national organization focused on advancing the career development, planning, and leadership of human resource professionals. This is the first time Rochester affiliate has presented the award to a local human resources professional. Wolfe and four others were recognized at a luncheon held at Oak Hill Country Club on April 29.
Karen and Dan Menachof recently launched Caring Transitions of Rochester, specializing in helping individuals relocate, downsize and take care of all that’s been left behind (including the sale of items via online auctions). In addition to the organizing, packing and move oversight, Caring Transitions can handle on-site or online estate sales, preparing homes for the real estate market and more. Caring Transitions serves families in the Rochester and Canandaigua areas.
Maplewood Nursing & Rehabilitation in Webster announced that Kathleen Doremus, RN, has been selected as director of Staff Education. Doremus is responsible for conducting the facility’s in-house Certified Nursing Assistant training programs, and for providing in-services for clinical and non-clinical staff.
