Final date for COA applicants

Listen to this articleThe New York State Commission on Judicial Nomination on Tuesday issued a final public reminder to prospective candidates who wish to submit applications for the upcoming vacancy on the Court of Appeals.
A vacancy will occur Nov. 29 with the expiring term of Senior Associate Judge Victoria A. Graffeo, who is seeking reappointment.
Applications must be submitted to the commission no later than June 15. They may be downloaded from the commission’s website (www.nysegov.com/cjn) or obtained by contacting the commission’s counsel, Henry M. Greenberg, c/o Greenberg Traurig LLP, 54 State St., 6th floor, Albany, N.Y. 12208; calling (518) 689-1492; or emailing [email protected].
Applications may be filed electronically by emailing them to CJN_Applicatio[email protected], or submitted by mail to the commission’s counsel.
Another vacancy will occur on Jan. 1 because Associate Judge Robert S. Smith will reach the mandatory retirement age of 70 this year and must retire by the end of the year.
