NeighborWorks Rochester receives grant

Rochester neighborhoods received a boost recently when M&T Bank awarded NeighborWorks Rochester a $5,000 grant in support of homeownership education.

NeighborWorks Rochester helped create 152 new homeowners last year through its NeighborWorks America certified homeownership education classes, representing more than $9 million in mortgages being invested back into Rochester neighborhoods.

Twenty-four homeownership classes were conducted last year with more than 378 participants taking pre- and post-purchase education classes and 12 monthly homebuyer orientations were attended by 451 individuals. High quality pre-purchase education has been documented to reduce foreclosures and improve the likelihood of long-term home ownership and is a core program area for the organization.

NeighborWorks Rochester is a full service housing agency serving Rochester and Monroe County residents.
