Woman sentenced for defrauding bank

Nicole Pompey, 34, of Cheektowaga, Erie County, who was convicted of bank fraud, has been sentenced by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara to 12 months in prison.

She was also ordered to pay $42,000 in restitution to HSBC Bank.

Pompey, according to Assistant U.S. Attorney MaryEllen Kresse, was an auditor at HSBC Bank between December 2008 and September 2010, when she used her position to manipulate teller accounts. The defendant transferred $42,000 from the teller accounts to a personal bank account she opened in her maiden name.
