UR getting research grant

A $577,598 federal grant is being awarded for research projects at the University of Rochester related to child and domestic abuse.

The U.S Department of Health and Human Services’ Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development will help fund research for the Child Maltreatment and Children’s Trust project.

“As an original author of the Violence Against Women Act, I’m committed to stopping domestic abuse in all forms, and this grant will help us determine how best to protect children from violence within the home,” Rep. Louise Slaughter said in announcing the grant Friday.

The National Institute of Child Health and Human Development was established in 1962 by President John F. Kennedy.
