All courts throughout the eight-county Seventh Judicial District on Thursday commemorated the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks with a moment of silence before the start of the daily court calendars, honoring nearly 3,000 people who died 13 years ago.
Specifically recognized were three Office of Court Administration officers killed in the attacks: Capt. William H. Thompson, SCO Thomas Jurgens and SCO Mitchell Wallace.
“As we pause to remember, let us reflect upon the privilege we have to play a signature role in upholding the values that are so important to our nation,” Judge Doran said.
In addition, courts in the Hall of Justice have developed a display this year, as they have every year since 2001, commemorating the tragic event. The display will remain until the end of the month.
