Michael R. Law, a partner with Phillips Lytle LLP, has been selected as the recipient of St. John Fisher College’s 2014 Justinian Medal.
The annual Justinian Order Medal reception will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Genesee Valley Club, 421 East Ave.
The Justinian Medal is given by the college and the Justinian Order, which is comprised of 420 judges and attorneys, all graduates of Fisher, to an individual in recognition of his or her outstanding service and civic leadership in numerous professional, business and charitable endeavors in the community and at the college.
Law’s litigation practice includes legal proceedings involving personal injury, product liability, toxic tort or industrial exposure, construction accidents, professional malpractice, insurance, contract and commercial law issues in both federal and state courts.
He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America and The New York Area’s Best Lawyers for personal injury attorneys and commercial attorneys; selected for the Upstate New York Super Lawyers list, 2007-2014; and was honored by the New York State Bar Association Empire State Counsel Program for pro bono Work in 2012, having volunteered more than 50 hours for the year.
Law earned his juris doctor from Louis D. Brandeis School of Law, University of Louisville, and his bachelor’s degree from St. John Fisher College.
In addition to being a member of the St. John Fisher Justinian Order, Law is a certified federal court mediator for the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York.
