Assembly’s GOP leader re-elected to post

ALBANY — The top Republican in the New York state Assembly has been re-elected to his leadership post.

Assemblyman Brian Kolb was picked to lead the GOP minority Thursday during a meeting at the Capitol.

Kolb, of Canandaigua, has led the Assembly Republicans since 2009.

He says his priorities include encouraging job growth and the economic recovery, helping to “ease the financial burdens” on families and restoring confidence in government.

The 150-member Assembly is led by Democratic Speaker Sheldon Silver of Manhattan.

Republicans hold a majority in the state Senate. Earlier this week Republican senators re-elected Sen. Dean Skelos to lead the chamber.
