Hundreds of walkers will participate in a 12-hour event Saturday in Greece to raise money for the American Cancer Society services in the Rochester community, including Hope Lodge, a free place for caregivers and patients to stay while receiving treatments.
Teams will gather at 2 p.m. at Odyssey Academy, 70 Maiden Lane, Greece. During Relay For Life events, participants camp out overnight and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Because cancer never sleeps, relay events take place overnight, sometimes lasting up to 24 hours in length.
Check out www.relayforlife.org to learn more about the Greece event and other upcoming coming relays or call 1 (800) 227-2345.
The theme this year is Relay Rainbow. Corresponding with it, the Odyssey Academy track will be splashed in color and celebration for survivors and hope for all those still fighting.
There will also be family entertainment and activities including bubble soccer, a photo booth, live bands and artists, food trucks, and more! Featured will be a chicken barbecue.
