New York state troopers from Troop A in Batavia were kept busy during the Independence Day weekend. Between Friday and Sunday, troopers from the Jamestown, Fredonia and Collins stations responded to 102 calls for service, made 417 vehicle-and-traffic arrests, 59 drug-related arrests, two illegal weapons arrests, two illegal fireworks arrests and six driving-while-intoxicated arrests.
The subsequent investigations from these incidents resulted in the seizure of cocaine, LSD, Ecstasy, prescription medications, marijuana, cannabis oil, hallucinogenic mushrooms, miscellaneous drug paraphernalia, brass knuckles and a stun gun.
Multiple arrests included, but were not limited to, criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of illegal fireworks, unlawful possession of marijuana and an ongoing investigation.
