EAST ROCHESTER (AP) — One of a family’s two dogs swept away by the strong current in a suburban Rochester creek has been found safe and is recovering at home.
Linda Garman says her daughter took Roxy and Maddix to Eyer Park in East Rochester to play in Irondequoit Creek on Saturday. Garman says both of the boxer-mix dogs are good swimmers but the strong current swept them downstream.
A search was launched and Roxy has been found. Maddix is still missing Monday.
Firefighters say recent heavy rains have caused the creek’s level to rise and they’re warning pet owners to be careful when bringing their dogs around water.
