Black belt center opening in Pittsford

Agape Black Belt Center will celebrate its new center with a grand opening from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at 3040 Monroe Ave., Pittsford.

John Ra, owner and master instructor, opened Agape Black Belt Center in 2007. Ra (7th Dan Hapkido, 5th Dan Taekwondo, 5th Dan Judo), began studying martial arts in 1984. He received a degree in judo and physical education from the Yong In University of Martial Arts in Yongin, South Korea, and has competed and received medals in numerous national and international Taekwondo tournaments including Collegiate Nationals.

With more than 30 years of martial arts experience, he instructs and oversees the day-to-day operations at Agape Black Belt Center and conducts seminars and demonstrations around the Rochester area.
