2 plead guilty in SUNY student’s OD death

GENESEO — Two former students at a western New York college have pleaded guilty in connection to the drug-related death of a fellow student last year.

Twenty-one-year-old Michael Green of Brooklyn and 23-year-old Richard Rovner of Buffalo both pleaded guilty Tuesday in a Livingston County court to attempting to tamper with evidence. They’ll each have to pay a $2,500 fine and perform 100 hours of community service as part of a plea deal.

The men were charged after 20-year-old Alex Davis of Victor died from a drug overdose inside the Phi Sigma Xi fraternity house in Geneseo. Green, Rovner and Davis were students at the State University of New York at Geneseo at the time.

Authorities say Davis, a sophomore lacrosse player, died accidentally from a combination of cocaine and fentanyl in May 2014.
