City youth and their families are invited to enjoy post-Thanksgiving special events at R-Centers throughout the city from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
“Thanksgiving is a time to enjoy the company of family and friends,” said Mayor Lovely A. Warren. “City R-Centers are extending the celebration by offering fun activities to enjoy with those we care about.”
The following R-Centers will offer special events:
• Adams Street R-Center, 85 Adams St.; 1-3 p.m.: “Thankswimming” pool activities; 3-5 p.m.: Arts and crafts and group games
• Campbell Street R-Center, 524 Campbell St.; 1-3 p.m.: Roller skating party; 3-5 p.m.: Arts and crafts and group games
• David F. Gantt R-Center, 700 North St.; 1-3 p.m.: Science, Technology, Engineering and Math activities; 3-5 p.m.: Roller skating party
• Thomas P. Ryan R-Center, 530 Webster Ave.; 1-3 p.m.: All ages soccer tournament and youth/parent cooking class; 3-5 p.m.: Roller skating party
To help alleviate hunger in our community, a donation of one non-perishable food item per person is suggested for admission to these events.
All R-Centers will be closed on Thursday and Friday in observance of Thanksgiving.
