U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul Jr. announced Thursday that Sheila Fullmer, 60, of Caledonia, pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge Marian W. Payson to engaging in theft during the course of performing her official government duties.

Fullmer stole about $6,500 worth of gift cards and cash. The charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

A mail clerk at the U.S. Postal Service Rochester Processing and Distribution Center, Fullmer was assigned to manual mail sorting area.

On Oct. 20 and 21, 2015, agents saw her rifling through mail and stealing gift cards and other items.

Fullmer was also seen using a gift card that had been reported missing by its sender.
