ROCHESTER — A new trial date has been set for a man charged in the fatal shooting of three people outside a Rochester community center last year.
A judge has scheduled June 12 as the start of the trial of 19-year-old Michael Mathis on second-degree murder charges. His trial was supposed to start Jan. 3 but had to be delayed because his lawyer is ill.
Mathis was one of three men charged after three people were killed and three others were wounded by gunfire outside the Boys and Girls Club on Genesee Street in August 2015.
Johnny Blackshell Jr. was convicted in July and sentenced to life in prison.
Jalen Everett was also convicted, but his guilty verdict was set aside after a judge because of juror misconduct. A re-trial has been scheduled for next month.
