Sarah M. Washington, an associate in Goldberg Segalla’s commercial litigation and arbitration and general liability practices, in Buffalo, has been awarded the 2019 Honorable Judith Kaye Commercial and Federal Litigation Scholarship.
The scholarship, established by the Commercial and Federal Litigation Section of the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA), is awarded to up to five female litigators to help increase the number of women prepared to serve as first chair in large commercial cases.
The scholarship pays for registration for the 2019 session of the Commercial Litigation Academy, or the next session in 2021.
Each scholarship recipient will be presented with the award on Wednesday in New York City in conjunction with the presentation of the Shira A. Scheindlin Award for Excellence in the Courtroom
The Scheindlin Award goes to female litigators who have had a distinguished career in state or federal courts and who have shown a commitment to mentoring young attorneys.
The Kaye Scholars also are invited to attend the Commercial and Federal Litigation Section’s annual meeting and gala luncheon in January in New York City.
Washington joined Goldberg Segalla in December. She focuses her practice on commercial litigation and corporate law.
