Since 1996 The Daily Record has been recognizing high-achieving leaders in the legal industry at its awards celebrations.

During a year we normally host five awards events honoring more than 100 legal, real estate and construction leaders from across western New York. These events are core to our mission of providing news and information to help businesses innovate and grow and to build the next generation of leaders.

The Daily Record’s events provide opportunities to learn from others, emulate success and build a strong network. They also allow other western New York businesses to align with The Daily Record brand through sponsorships and to show their commitment to recognizing excellence.

Five weeks ago we planned to host our first awards event of the year, for which our editors selected 11 corporate counsel leaders from the Rochester area. Just a couple weeks before that event our world changed when we started to learn about the impact of COVID-19, and a stay-at-home order for New York was put in place.

Work, events and life as we knew it came to a halt. We were all left in a state of uncertainty and confusion.

During this time we have provided our readers with the essential news and information they need to keep their law firms and organizations moving forward. However, we have been unable to provide the connections to our region’s leaders, the recognition of success and the opportunity to celebrate those successes because the model we all came to know — in-person events — was halted.  We are unsure when it will be safe to put hundreds of people in a room together again.

One thing we know at The Daily Record is we are committed to our mission. We will continue to recognize excellence and give all our readers insight into true leadership and access to those they want to emulate.

To that end, we are excited to announce our awards events are going virtual, starting June 1, and will continue to be virtual until it is safe to come together in a large group and celebrate in person. Our innovative events and marketing team has created a virtual-event experience working with our production partner VPC, Inc. that we promise will provide the next best thing to an in-person experience.

Tickets will still be required, and we will send a special link to winners, guests and sponsors the day of the virtual event with access to the awards celebration. A portion of ticket sales from each event will be donated to a nonprofit.

Our first virtual event will be Excellence in Law on June 24. I encourage you to take this opportunity to attend from your home while enjoying your favorite meal and drink. Come dressed the way your mood feels that day — formal to pajamas. We want you to participate in the event through a live social media feed tied to #TDREvents.

Your friends at The Daily Record will greet you, our incredible sponsors will light up the screen with their comments and each of our winners will be recognized through multimedia storytelling.

Please join The Daily Record and come together with other legal leaders to help move business forward and celebrate success in this new virtual format.
