What advice would you give someone starting a trusts and estates practice right now?
Strive to make and maintain personal connections with each and every client. The introduction of virtual meeting options, while convenient, is not a substitute for knowing your clients in a personal manner so you are best able to meet their needs. These close relationships will prove to be the building blocks of your career.
If you could practice one area of law that you haven’t practiced in your career, what would it be and why?
I truly enjoy working on home improvements and learning how things work. I spend many weekends working on projects that range from refinishing a basement, building cabinetry, or even taking a class on welding. I think I would enjoy patent law or intellectual property so I could help clients protect that which they have painstakingly created.
What is one personal goal you have for the next year?
Aside from breaking 80 on the golf course, I am hoping to coach my son’s little league team to a repeat championship next year.
