Years in current role: 12
What has been your biggest success over the past year?
It’s a shared success of creating a culture in the workplace that inspires all of my colleagues and co-workers to excellence.
What are your expectations for the next 6-12 months?
We are expecting more growth. In particular, we are focused on hiring diverse candidates and lateral attorneys looking for a great place to work. We have recently brought in many associates which will allow us to continue building a broad foundation of outstanding lawyers and leaders.
What advice would you give someone starting out as a litigator right now?
Learn the craft of trial practice. If you are an accomplished and fearless litigator, you and your client have every advantage in the courtroom and in the lawsuit.
If you could practice one area of law that you haven’t practiced in your career, what would it be and why?
International law. It would be very interesting and educational to see judicial systems at work across the globe.
What is one personal goal you have for the next year?
I am reading the most frequently banned books in this country identified by the American Library Association (www.rd.com/list/bannedbooks). Books in the United States are under attack. They are being challenged, removed from bookshelves and banned so I am trying to better understand what content some individuals and elected officials find objectionable so that I can participate in the conversation. That’s a personal goal right now.
