Langston D. McFadden

Member Attorney, The Law offices of Pullano & Farrow PLLC

Years in current role: 9

What has been your biggest success over the past year?

When I accepted the incredible responsibility of becoming President of the Monroe County Bar Association. Although I did so with the knowledge and humility to know that I am truly not worthy, I ultimately agreed to accept the awesome responsibility with the hope that I can help propel the MCBA forward into a new era post-COVID.

What are your expectations for the next 6-12 months?

I believe the time of sitting by quietly and failing to use our knowledge, our wisdom, and our voices as lawyers to help make society better needs to end. I hope to use my connection with the MCBA to encourage legal professionals to lead from the front of the line, and to be so bold as to truly believe that collectively we can make a difference. Together we can make things better.

What advice would you give someone starting out as a litigator right now?

Covid has changed the face of litigation. It can be very easy to lose civility through a computer screen. My advice would be to never underestimate the power of in-person connection. The best attorneys cultivate personal relationships with their friends, adversariesand core personnel.

If you could practice one area of law that you haven’t practiced in your career, what would it be and why?

Sports law. In the past, I have spent time as a volunteer basketball coach for both the American Athletic Union High School Boys team and the Amateur Athletic Union. I love coaching basketball and mentoring young athletes.

What is one personal goal you have for the next year?

As President of the MCBA, I am honored to assist in launching the inaugural class of MCBA’s Leadership Academy. The Academy is designed to expose eligible attorneys to the broad spectrum of the Monroe County community, encourage community involvement, and to allow attorneys to develop new connections to enhance balance and perspective for attorneys in our region.
