Vice President & Deputy General Counsel
Constellation Brands, Inc.
At critical moments, Brian Meath is someone others know they can count on. It’s at those times when Meath provides “an affirmation as we move forward with confidence, or an expression of a concern, prompting a careful reexamination of our course,” wrote Michael F. Stapleton Jr., president and CEO of UR Medicine’s Thompson Health.
It’s why Meath is such a valuable member of the Thompson’s board. Meath, who grew up in a civic-minded family, has served as the board’s secretary since 2010 and also currently serves on the board for the United Way of Ontario County. He is a past board member for the Happiness House/Finger Lakes Cerebral Palsy Association; in fact, he was on their board for 19 years.
“Despite a demanding job, Brian has made community service a priority in his life,” wrote Stephanie Caffera, a partner at Nixon Peabody LLP who nominated Meath for the award. “He is a role model for effective, dedicated leadership at the office and in the community. His contributions have made a lasting impact on the lives of his colleagues, neighbors and countless individuals in the Rochester area.”
That demanding job is at Constellation Brands, Inc., the Victor-based beer, wine and spirits producer and marketer, where Meath is vice president and general counsel. Meath joined the company in 1998 after working as counsel for Fisons Pharmaceuticals and Paychex, Inc. Meath earned his law degree at the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School.
Despite the praise from his peers, Meath said his children make him the most proud, because of their “genuine courage, character and generosity.”
