Mary Jo S. Korona is still passionate about her law career after 25 years as a litigator.

“In addition to working with clients to litigate a matter when needed, I also still look forward to partnering with them to find practical business solutions,” said Korona, a partner with Leclair Korona Vahey Cole, LLP. “I have had the opportunity to work with great clients, many longtime clients, who call upon me to assist them in their decision-making process to minimize their risk. I have assisted nearly as many clients to avoid litigation as I have in the litigation process.”

Korona is very respected in the Rochester legal community, wrote two of her nominators.

Louise Spinelli, office manager in Korona’s law firm, wrote that she observed Korona’s dedication to the community when Spinelli was the continuing legal education and diversity manager with the Monroe County Bar Association. “Mary Jo believes that it is her responsibility to the profession to give back to the legal community,” she wrote. Korona, a member of the bar association since 1993, is a former member of its board of trustees and former co-chair of its ethics committee, among other posts.

“Mary Jo considers ethics and professionalism critical components to practicing law and participates in a yearly New York State Bar Association ethics continuing legal education course to help educate attorneys about maintaining an ethical practice, thereby helping them avoid grievances,” Spinelli wrote.

Christopher K. Werner of Boylan Code Attorneys at Law was co-chair on the county bar association’s ethics committee with Korona. “Mary Jo is a top litigator and an exceptional advocate for her clients who understands the nature and technique of effective litigation,” he wrote. “She is direct, measured, focused, and relentless in the pursuit of her clients’ just causes. If I needed a lawyer, she is first on my list.”
