A former kindergarten teach has been sentenced to 13 years in federal prison on child pornography charges.
Roland Yockel II, 31, of Hilton, was convicted of receipt of child pornography, also was sentenced to 15 years of supervised release by U.S. District Judge Elizabeth A. Wolford.
Yockel also was ordered to pay $7,200 in restitution to victims and he will have to register as a sex offender after serving his prison sentence.
Yockel was a full-time kindergarten teacher in the Brockport Central School District and also held positions with the Hamlin Recreation Department as a summer youth camp counselor, program assistant, health director, and camp coordinator, according to the U.S. Attorney‘s Office.
Yockel traded, received, and possessed approximately 6,000 images and videos of child pornography, prosecutors said.
In July 2017, Yockel was identified by Homeland Security officers in Phoenix during a child pornography probe with investigators from New Zealand. That investigation identified individuals who used Chatstep.com on the internet to share child pornography.
On Nov. 21, during the execution of a search warrant at Yockel’s Hilton home, law enforcement officers seized multiple devices which contained about 5,500 images and 247 videos of child pornography.
Yockel also had online chats with other individuals trading child pornography in which he pretended to be the father of two prepubescent girls.
In those conversations, he offered to allow other child pornographers to have sex with his supposed daughters, and talked about having sex with other children.
