Webster resident named to lead national court reporter group

Meredith Bonn, an official court reporter from Webster, has been named chair of the Board of Trustees of the National Court Reporters Foundation (NCRF), the philanthropic arm of the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA).

NCRA is the country’s leading organization representing stenographic court reporters, captioners, and legal videographers.

The announcement was made at an awards luncheon at the 2026 NCRA Conference & Expo held July 16 through 18 in Bellevue, Washington.

Bonn has been a court reporter since 1990 and was named official senior court reporter for the New York State Seventh Judicial District, in 2007. From 2000 to 2007, she served as an official court reporter for the same court, and prior to that she worked as a freelance reporter from 1990 to 2000.

Bonn holds the nationally recognized professional certifications of Registered Professional Reporter (RPR) and Certified Realtime Reporter (CRR). Bonn has served as NCRA’s vice president and as a national director.

She is a member of the New York Court Reporters Association and has served as director, president-elect, president, and immediate past president of their Board of Directors. Bonn is actively involved in promoting the court reporting profession and has volunteered at numerous middle and high school career events.

Bonn also presents at careers in the courthouse programs. She is the creator and presenter of The Power of the Positive Attitude which has been presented at numerous NCRA and state conventions. She is also coordinator of the NCRA Steno A to Z® Intro to Steno Machine Shorthand program in western New York.

In April, through the NCRF, Bonn launched Leading with the Heart: The Bonn Fund, created to serve as a call to invest in the future of court reporting and captioning.

Unlike NCRF’s program-specific campaigns, The Bonn Fund is designed to provide flexible, unrestricted support, ensuring NCRF can direct resources where they are most needed across its full range of initiatives from student scholarships to career development.

The campaign also extends beyond the profession itself, inviting support from a broad network of stakeholders such as law firms, bar associations, educational institutions, captioning providers, broadcasters, and organizations serving the deaf and hard-of-hearing communities.
