David R. Rinere, 43, of Rochester, has pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Charles J. Siragusa, to receipt of child pornography.
Rinere faces five to 20 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and a term of supervised release of at least five years and up to life.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Marisa J. Miller and Craig R. Gestring said the defendant persuaded a 13-year-old girl to take sexually explicit photographs and a video of herself using a cellular phone. The girl then sent the images and video to Rinere’s cellular phone at his request.
“With the continued growth of technology, this case highlights the need for parents to be ever vigilant and keep a close eye on cell phone usage by their children,” said U.S. Attorney Hochul.
Sentencing is scheduled for June 7.
