Federal prosecutors say a former Food Markets in New Jersey has been arrested on charges of sending online death threats to the grocery store chain’s chief executive.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard Resnick says 30-year-old Hans Ni of Trenton, N.J., was arrested there last week and charged with transmitting interstate threats against Danny Wegman, the family-operated company’s CEO.

After an investigation by the FBI and police in Rochester, where Wegmans is based, Ni was ordered held by a New Jersey court and was being transported Wednesday to upstate New York. The charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.

It was not immediately clear if Ni had retained an attorney.

Wegmans has 77 stores in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia and Maryland.
