Justice gets GOP nod

State Supreme Court Justice John M. Owens received the Monroe County Republican Committee’s endorsement in his campaign for Monroe County Surrogate’s Court judge.
Justice Owens, 64, has served for nine years on the state bench. He is running to replace Surrogate’s Court Judge Edmund A. Calvaruso, who is retiring at the end of the year.
Justice Owens, who for the last seven years has supervised the Seventh Judicial District’s Matrimonial Part, worked in private practice and had served as Judge Calvaruso’s law clerk before he was elected to the bench.
Justice Owens also is running on the Conservative and Working Families lines.
