Willie Rasheen Bell has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for conviction of second-degree murder in connection with the April 2014 death of Alvin Metcalf Jr., who was shot in the back in broad daylight in the parking lot of his auto sales business on Lyell Avenue.
Bell was also convicted of conspiracy to commit murder for later trying to hire someone to kill his girlfriend, the sole witness to Metcalf’s murder. He was sentenced on that charge by Supreme Court Justice Alex R. Renzi to a consecutive term of 10 to years in prison.
The case was prosecuted by assistant district attorneys of the Major Felony Bureau.
“The Rochester Police Department brought an outstanding investigation to our office for prosecution, and that investigation continued within our office, even through trial, resulting in additional charges against Mr. Bell,” said Brian Green and Patrick Farrell, assistant district attorneys in the Major Felony Bureau who prosecuted the case.
“Mr. Bell is an example of the individuals who are committing these types of heinous crimes throughout our community on a daily basis and Mr. Bell’s conviction and sentence is an example of what will happen to those who commit these crimes.”
