New York City police shoot man with knife

NEW YORK — Authorities say a police officer has shot and wounded a man who refused to drop his knife in Manhattan.
The New York Police Department officials said officers responded to a possible emotionally disturbed person near the FDR Drive and found a 25-year-old man with a knife. Police say the man would not follow orders to drop the knife and advanced upon officers. He was shot once in the torso. It happened around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The suspect has been taken to Bellevue Hospital and is likely to survive. The two officers have been taken to Beth Israel Hospital for observation.
