Rochester woman charged in stray-bullet killing near Pulaski Park

USA TODAY NETWORK — A woman last week was charged in connection with the woman killed by a stray bullet in northeast Rochester earlier this month.

Aryana Stone, 24, was charged with second-degree and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies, in connection with the Nov. 2 death of Kitana Kendrick, 30, of Rochester on Gothic Street, said Lt. Joseph Graham of the Rochester Police Department.

Kendrick was shot by a stray bullet near Pulaski Park on Gothic Street around 1:50 a.m. Nov. 2. Kendrick, who was shot at least once in the torso, was found in the street. She was struck by a stray round of gunfire, the result of an argument that escalated, according to police.

Kendrick was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Stone was apprehended Friday near by U.S. Marshals. At the time, she was on probation for several violent felonies and had an outstanding warrant for violation of probation, officers said. She was arraigned Friday in CAP Court and was remanded to the without bail and is due to return to City Court on Nov. 19, according to court records.
