New York to invest $55M in tourism

New York state has a $55 million plan to increase tourism.

announced Tuesday that the money will pay for advertisements and campaigns to promote state attractions, as well as upgrades to state welcome centers and efforts to highlight locally made food and beverages.

The Democratic governor’s announcement came after a gathering in Albany that focused on ways to spur tourism and the state’s burgeoning beer, wine, cider and spirits industries.

The state also announced two historical tourism focuses for 2017: the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage in New York and the 200th anniversary of the Erie Canal.
